THE FLOW OF NIGHT – 2026
This is part of my new Nocturne Series inspired by the magical time between 3:00 and 4:00 AM, that little window where creativity moves more freely.
In this particular piece, the form flows in a smooth, continuous wave that catches the light beautifully. When you turn it, the rhythm shifts into sharp lines, deep textures, and striking natural cracks, mirroring the 3am current that is both fluid and punctuated by sudden, vivid thoughts.
Finished with the traditional Japanese yakisugi technique, where the wood is charred and meticulously finished to accentuate its natural, mysterious movement, and to preserve and protect its character.
This piece of wildwood is remarkably strong, and feels weighty for its size. Restorative work was done with the intention of keeping the original sculpture that was made by a tree and the sea.
